St. Cloud Street Reconstruction

Project Description: The City of Rapid City contracted with KTM to prepare plans and specifications for this road and utility reconstruction project. The project includes reconstruction of approximately 1,250 linear feet of St. Cloud Street between Summit Boulevard and West Boulevard. Tasks necessary to complete this project include new design for street, water main, sanitary sewer main, storm sewer inlets and main, coordination with private utility companies, temporary easements, and project documents. Project challenges associated with the project consist of local terrain (an existing hillside within right-of-way) and access (the western two thirds of the project limits is considered a long cul-de-sac). Plans are near complete and the City intends to let the project in January of 2018.
Rapid Valley Sanitary Sewer Bypass Project

Project Description: In 2013, the City of Rapid City contracted with KTM to prepare plans and specification for approximately 1300 linear feet of new 12” sanitary sewer main. The project was bid ready in 2014. Following discussions with the current Landowner, the original design plan was completely revised. Project requirements were changed by City staff. The additional items included a widened future street section, 1,300 linear feet of new 12” sanitary sewer main, 1,200 linear feet of new 12” water main, a storm sewer drop structure, and additional site grading. KTM staff incorporated additional geotechnical requirements, USACE 404 permitting, local service line replacement, and permitting coordination with Pennington County.
Box Elder Northern Lights Well & Reservoir

Project Description: In 2013, the City of Box Elder contracted with KTM to prepare plans and specification for a new well and reservoir. The new Northern Lights Reservoir and Well are located in the southwestern portion of Box Elder. Design aspects include site layouts for the new well, well house, and 1.5 million gallon reservoir. Other project requirements include approximately 1,600 foot of new access road, 2,300 feet of new 8” and 14” water mains, and associated water main appurtenances. The project was completed in April of 2016. The project was funded through USDA Rural Development.

Winner Casino Site Design

Project Description: KTM through a subcontract with Blue Star Studios provided support and design services to prepare an overall masterplan for the property, develop entry roads form both the SD Hwy and County Road, develop utility connection points and determine service location and size to serve current phase and future phases. Other tasks involve drainage plan and needs assessment for facilities, prepare site plans for utilities, parking, and site access, help identify finished floor elevation to balance earthwork and maintain natural look. KTM staff also coordinated geotechnical evaluation and site survey efforts.
Pine Ridge Veterans Housing

Project Description: KTM through a subcontract with Blue Star Studios provided support and design services to develop concepts for this residential type subdivision. General task include determination of local drainage routes, identify utility connection points, prepare site plans for parking and site access, and mass balance of earthwork. KTM staff provided recommendations for finished floor elevations and foundation design based on geotechnical evaluations and provided coordination for site survey requirements.

Radar Hill Road Construction – Box Elder, South Dakota

Project Description: The project consisted of public utility design in conjunction with the SDDOT reconstruction of Radar Hill Road in Box Elder, SD. The project included design of new water main along the existing right-of-way including several key tie-in locations with adjacent properties and subdivisions.
Michael Towey, PE was the Project Manager and worked with both the SD DOT and the City of Box Elder to provide utility design services for the Radar Hill Road Project. Design aspects included water main relocation and design.
